The color spaces and color
formulas are the two major aspects that are used in the color measurement. The
color formulas are basically the method through which the color of any object
is represented in the mathematical
values. The analysis of the colors is done in two ways, one if visually and the
other using color checkers. When
colors are tested visually, the accuracy of the test results is dependent on
the visual analysis and color perception skills. This can result in a variation of the analysis hence the best way to

The CIELAB color space formula
works on the formula of L*a*b. this color space is accepted in laboratories and

calculated on the basis of values of X, Y and Z coordinates which depict the
most basic mathematical model of color measurement.
The values of colors in the
CIELAB color space are determined by depicting the colors as the coordinates in
a rectangular system. The L* in the system gives the intensity of the color
that is darkness or brightness of the color. a* gives the position of the color
on the green-red axis and b* gives the position of the color on the blue-yellow
axis.
L*C*h0
This color space is also widely
used in color measurement and is best for calculation of the color difference
of L*C*h0. The color space is actually derived from the values of L*a*b*.
In this color space, the L* gives the lightness or the darkness of the color; the C* gives the distance of the color
from the center of the color space, and
the ∆h° is the hue difference that is
noted for two different colors.
